Blogs and ePortfolios
Have your students use blogs instead of paper journals and work on developing a community of writers. Services like Blogger.com, learnerblogs.org, and Blogmeister are free blogging services that your students can join. Some are open to the public, others are password protected.
Blogs used on a district or board level can be used to keep student eportfolio writing from year to year in one central location. These types of eportfolios are useful for students, parents and educators to examine a child's writing development over a number of years.
