(Via Nicolas)

I took a look at the .pdf document ‘RSS Ideas for Educators’, and my main comment can be summed up with ‘WOW!’ This is a really, really great document. I really hope that Stephen Downes picks this up in OLDaily. A document like this, combined with your presentation, could really kick-start things for a lot of educators. Any plans to put your presentation online as well?

    Great work Quentin!

    Thanks for your comments Danny.

I will post my presentation as well, I’m not sure if I’m going to post a just a PPT, a podcast or screencast. It will have to be after the conference presentations as I usually tweek up to the day I present.

If it helps other educators, than I’m all for it.

    Hi Quentin,
Great job on the document. I might suggest that you list NetNewsWire as a desktop aggregator. It is a Mac OS X client. http://ranchero.com/netnewswire/

Thanks for doing this. Should be a good resource for teachers…

Found my way here via Stephen’s OLDaily and… Fantastic document, presented as if written by a teacher… whaddayaknow! One minor suggestion: in the section where you describe how to identify feeds (page 14) you might want to include the new, soon-to-be-standard feed icon. Microsoft and Mozilla/Firefox have both agreed to use the icon in their browsers and apps, and if they can agree on something, I think it’ll be great for all of us to support them. You can find the icons at Matt Brett’s FeedIcons site: http://feedicons.com/ . Thanks again for the great document!

Also found my way via Stephen’s old daily

then I left a lengthy comment/introduction. Somehow posted it twice then this lame “please Stephen help me tidy up my mess” comment. Talk about crash and burn! I don’t expect to get much of a welcome to the edu-blogosphere now. Oh well.

Here is the start of what I had to say …
Thanks Stephen for putting me on to this resource. It’s a sensational compilation catering to those who want to ‘dip their toes in’ through to those who ‘have been under for so long they’re running out of bubbles.’ Most importantly is the altrusitic manner in which Quentin D’Souza shares his expertise and energies. Thankyou Quentin, perhaps you are another one of those meerkats I mention below :)

I wanted to point out that perhaps http://www.schoolblogs.com should be reveiwed as being available to edubloggers. It appears in many resources I’ve come across. I found Schoolblogs wonderful in meetings my needs but have been knocked about by it moving from free to out of my price range as of 1st Jan 2006. Time to stretch and move on …

For the rest (the meerkat and intro bit – and you can read it twice!)

    Thanks Quentin.

Cool, thanks Quentin! I only found out the other day that my blog rated a mention on page 24. I have downloaded this a while ago but hadn’t read it in full – you know just thumbing through when I had the time and absorbing key bits. This rates right alongside David Muir’s Guide to del.icio.us as perfect introductory reading for educators grappling with the world of Web 2.0.

    Hello,

There’s a website called http://www.rss2.co.uk, which enables you to create a PDF directly from multiple RSS feeds. This is useful, especially for academics / teachers, wishing to capture/archive information (of share information offline, with students).

    I hope this helps!
