I have been very impressed with WordPress over the last few weeks and the plugins feature of WordPress. There are so many different plugins to chose from and they are really easy to install. Just dump the files in the right folder and within the administration section -sect the plugin – and activate it. That’s it.Probably the best plugin so far is the “Check Spellingâ€? one that I just installed. Finally a way to check spelling without having to cut and paste from my word processor.

I am really awful at remembering phone numbers, but I found this nifty little tool that helps convert phone numbers to words. I’m not sure if it’s me getting older, or just the amount of things I need to memorize. It is called PhoneSpell.

Well there have been three different amendments to the OKNL RFP for a province wide LMS and LOR. These amendments were based on questions asked by LMS/LOR companies and seemed quite necessary.

It seems as though the LMS and LOR will not have the functionality to support a blended model of instruction, that is, outside of the courses offered through the provincial LMS. At out board we have hundreds of teachers who have used a blended approach to teaching their courses – both secondary and elementary.

Also, they seem to be leaving out certain features that were previously included. Why remove a “drag and drop’ feature from menus? Does this give certain vendors a better chance than others? Very curious…

Well the Course Overviews are out from OKNL. They provide information about the online course offerings from the Ministry of Education available to school boards to have taught using the yet unamed province wide LMS.

I decided to move the Tech Musings blog to WordPress. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Being able to utilize the MySQL database should speed up the viewing time. I was having trouble with the AJ-Fork of CuteNews and basically got tired of using it.

Unfortunately – now I have to convert my content over the next few days!

Here is a quick curriculum idea to use with Google Maps and flicker. I saved the image of my satellite map from google then uploaded it to a flickr account. I could then write on the image and added information about the neighbourhood around the school board. Here is my version. This would make an interesting virtual borchure of a neighbourhood. Students describing different highlights of their area or illustrating directions by using relativity to landmarks.

Just an idea :-)
